What will I be doing on my upcoming holiday break? I’ll be working on Lila Dreams, of course. I’ve already started, so don’t try to talk me out of it!
Ok, so maybe there was a slightly chubby lady humming, but this thing ain’t over. The whole “professional game programmer” thing keeps getting in the way, but eventually I will circle back around.
I guess there’s something about this time of year.
I get more free time, or at least a few chunks of it, and then cool stuff happens. Cool stuff happened! It involves some multi-player server code, the Unity game engine, and an undying passion to see the Wurld come to life in any way possible.
(Can one make a prequel to a game that doesn’t yet exist? Is there a better word for it?)
I’ve been watching this blog for years, hoping to see this project get off the ground. I’m really looking forward to seeing what develops, and I hope you haven’t given up.
Have you considered setting something up on kickstarter, maybe help with funding so you can focus on the rough stuff? If you do go that route, please be sure to let us all know with a new blog update. I’m sure I’m not the only person who still sneaks by from time to time.
I really wish I knew how to do… whatever it is you need help with to get this thing going somewhere again.
Anywho, best of luck!
Thanks for your encouragement, Carissa!
I have not given up, but I have decided that I need a proper amount of funding to do the game justice. I am not against making a smaller version as a starting point, but I really don’t want to skimp on the art that it requires. And it *requires* a minimum level of art quality, so I will have to hoard up the loot for that.
I considered Kickstarter, but as a fulltime game programmer, I am not sure I would have time to successfully market and support a campaign. If it did actually succeed, I’m not sure I should dive in head first at this point in my career. That doesn’t mean that, if favorable circumstances arise, I will never do a Kickstarter!
Lila’s universe is quite dear to me, so I will always be looking for routes to get the project going again. There is some hope yet, but a few more things need to fall into place.
It’s easy for me to feel like I’m the only one who still cares, so it means a lot to me that you took the time to speak up.
She is not the only one!
Yay, Jesse! Thank you.
