Lila now has even more indie-ness!

Creatrix Games is more indie than ever! Go, underdog!!

The project has slowed to a crawl, unfortunately, because I had to backtrack and am reworking a lot of code from scratch. So, this has destroyed our milestone schedule, and as a result I am not getting any more funding until functionality is back to the point where our previous milestone left off. The sucky part is that much of the code done previously was not viable in terms of being a basis for building upon, so I can only salvage small parts of it. The rest goes in the trash.

The real wrench in the works here is that I still need to eat. (Why?! Why must my mammalian metabolism demand daily fuel?!) I’ve had to divert most of my attention to other projects in order to not starve, loseWeight Exercise my house, and become a hobo. This vicious cycle has left me with almost no time to work on Lila Dreams, although it has not drained any of my determination. It just means the game is going to be released a lot later than any of us had ever wanted. Still, I’d rather release late than never!

The good news is that there is running code and a solid, new technical architecture, so at least I have confidence that I can actually get it all put back together eventually. As with many things in life, it comes down to simply finding the hours in each day to get something accomplished.

I do foresee income from my other ventures reaching a point where I can get back to 80% of my time being spent on Lila Dreams, so nobody had better start nay-saying! :) There’s a bright future for this project. It’s still gonna be awesome.

Hi Jason,
Well I’m happy to see you are still plugging along. That’s too bad about the funding and having to redo the architecture. At least now rather than later right?

Good luck with your other work for now and I am very excited to see the game flourish when it’s ready!

Eat the leftover code. Two birds, one stone!

Anyway we are here cheering you on, keep up the great work!

That’s the attitude! Don’t loose hope. This is really a special project. I would love to help, but can’t (for pretty much the same reasons as yours).
Still as interested by the project as I was when I first set eyes on it.
I wish you to always keep the strength to be interested by your personnal project enough to give them time.

Damn.
But I guess the longer the wait, the better it’ll be, right? I’m really working foward to it; keep it up

Hey Jason. Hope the situation brightens up for you. Good on you for not giving up on the project!

You could always open source the project, of course then you take the risk of it running away from you. I really want to see this game come out, don’t give up!

I once worked on a game project I cared about deeply, and had to put it on hold. I wish you the determination and enjoyment to see Lila Dreams through to completion!

This could only mean one thing! the game would be great!

Even the forces of nature itself can’t prevent this inevitable fate in the making. :)

That’s right, keep alive and moving, hope for the best!

You are right, dear FluffFluff! There is a delay here, but eventually, Lila will be back on track. It’s a project I will continue to work on whether I have funding or not. Funding just means it gets done faster, but either way I will keep working on it.

Thanks again, everyone, for the words of support!

I’ve been excited for this game for awhile.
The idea’s great, keep us updated even if progress is slow.

As long as it comes out eventually I’ll be happy.

Good Luck!

Keep workin Jason, you can totally work through it! Dinowaurs ran out of funding months ago, and development took a hit as we started taking other contracts, but we’re actually close to finish! You can get there too, just keep it up. And remember, releasing an awesome game is way more important than releasing early.

We’re all waiting at the light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep working towards us. We have cake and hugs to give out.

Thanks for the continued support, everyone. It keeps me fired up. :) I think hugs are a great idea. The world needs a lot more of those.

I’ll be posting this coming Tuesday for a general update on things.
