Expedition in the hills

Here we have a conceptual scene of a group of three memekins in the hills near Jalopy: a Naturalist (bottom, left), a Trapper (middle), and a Painkeeper (right). I won’t say much about the details since none of this is final yet, but one key fact is that you are what you wear.

Oh My God COLOUR!!!

That is absolutely beautiful, I am very impressed.
Greg you’re the man!

So what’s the name of that monster then? ^.^

I am very happy to see you guys are coming along very nicely now. As the first concept we have seen with characters, I am excited to see what the rest of them will look like!

I really love how different the characters look; I also love the idea of an equipment-based skills system.

Dude, if that is what the game actually looks like, this is gonna ROCK.

Hey hey! I’m liking the look of that!

It’s quite exciting to see some conceptual art of what PCs may look like. And some possible examples of “classes”.

So is the Trapper zappin’ that worm, or the other way around? :D

Keep the updates coming, guys! Thumbs up (!^.^).

an odd question.

Did I miss something here, cause I haven’t seen the memekin’s face for quite a while, now. Their headgears/masks must mean something does it? Or perhaps I’m just paranoid X)

Nice concept art by the way, and in colour too!!!

SirWamsly, the worm is tentatively called a mudshark.

r0kamo, the Trapper is extracting essence from the creature (likely to be used as a gardening nutrient).

FluffFluff, I’m not sure what you’re asking? :)

Oh. My. God.
IT”S BEAUTIFUL!!!
Well done, Greg!

So that’s what we’re playing as, huh? Me gusta, they’s so cool! It’s a good balance of kind of cute-warrior-ish-ness.

Whoa, mudsharks? Awesome work, guys!!! (yes, more update on beasties :) )

Hmm..the Trapper is extracting essence, and the Naturalist doing his/her field work, so what does a Painkeeper do?

Most obvious (to me) he’s depicted in the midst of chopping up those giant mudsharks, or perhaps some rituals,or even carving up his share for dinner?

Arghh, getting myself confused again :)

I think what FluffFluff is asking is do the Memekins have heads or just hats?
Also, awesome concept!

#10 Lorne on 06.26.08 at 5:41 pm

Also, I’m assuming you change hats/masks (or even whole outfits) to change class?

Sir Cavy, the unique feature of the Painkeeper is that the closer to death you are, the more powerful you become. So you’ll want to hover as close to death as possible to maximize your power while not quite getting killed.

Lorne and FluffFluff, yes of course memekins have heads. And faces. :) And, yes, correct about what you wear determines your Role.

could we have a list of all the roles you have created so far? I understand it would be tentative but I would like to add them to the wiki soon.

On top of that, I would LOVE some more info on the monsters you have that are for sure going in the game. This may be a bit too much to ask and if it is please forgive me. But… if it isn’t you would surely make a handful of people very very very happy!! Myself included.

I wonder if you have an Astronaut as a role? that would be great..

The Painkeeper should also benefit from the pain inflicted on its groupmates.

Just an idea. Any mechanic that can be made more social should be looked into.

Awesome art.

I’m very excited to hear about the trapper. I love the idea of interaction between the different challenge systems in the game (in this case combat and gardening). I want to be able to experience every little bit of this game when it comes out (and I’m sure I’m not the only one), so having classes that encourage a broad range of activities in order to reach maximum effectiveness is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Yes SirWarmsly…………..it would make a HANDFUL of people very happy indeed! :)

just wondering, is there a chance of a new post any time soon? I know we’re all anxious to hear what’s coming!
